• UNDISPUTED LEADER

    IN CURLING EVENT MARKETING

Curling isn't everything we do.

But it has been a big part of the last twenty years!  It started out as a “one-off” with the 1998 Labatt Brier in Winnipeg and snowballed into 15 years of work involving all the major championship events in Canada.  From that, stemmed an opportunity to introduce curling to Las Vegas.  In 2014, we were hired to build a marketing plan from the ground up, and proceeded to attract record-breaking numbers of curling fans to the world’s entertainment capital – a feat that repeated itself four more times between 2016 and 2019, and eventually led to the brand designation:  the world’s curling oasis.

Working out of a home base of Winnipeg, our experience also includes significant involvement with the Pan Am Games, the Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets…including development of the very first Winnipeg Jets Whiteout, way back in 1987.

From brand design and creative development…through advertising and ticket marketing, we have done it all.

  • Concept & Writing

It doesn't matter what the end goal is, it all begins with the IDEA. And then it's all about how that idea is translated through the written word. Those very attributes form the very core of our DNA.

  • Video Production

Whether it's a TV commercial, a digital ad or a promotional video, we take every project from drawing board through final production. All with the same underlying principle: if it's for a "live" event, it better look and feel "alive".

  • Original Branding

Your event name. Your look. Your theme. Your logo. Your marks. All together, these represent the face of everything you say and do. It's important to get it right...right from the start!

  • Audio Production

We call this RODio. Hardly a week has gone by in the past several decades that ROD Palson hasn't been called upon to write and produce top-drawer creative for radio or video application. Hence: RODio.

Creative Solutions for Event Marketing

  • Rod Palson President/Creative Director

    I am a career copywriter.

Originally, an agency co-owner and creative director…I became accustomed to dealing directly with clients, and eventually began wearing the account director hat for accounts like McDonald’s Canada – an environment where you learn the ropes from the very best.  All along the way through my agency days, I maintained a hands-on role with several “sports” accounts such as the Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Pan Am Games.  That led me to eventually go out on my own in the sports marketing arena.

Eventually my plate became totally consumed by the sport of curling, developing a ticket marketing model for Canada’s major championships – a hectic fifteen year run that saw the sport explode, and be played in Canada’s biggest arenas… then I would move on to become responsible for the marketing of live curling events in Las Vegas.

I see myself as the perfect fit for event managers who are in search of creative solutions to maximize their marketing programs.  Because I have lived this business from both the creative and account side of things, I understand the demands and the expectations from both sides of the glass…with a unique appreciation for what it takes to be an effective team.

I am hands-on…from concept development through final production of all materials, so when you have questions, you get the answers.  Quickly.  And accurately.

That’s the beauty of an In House relationship.

  • I am delighted to have the chance to recommend Mr. Rod Palson for almost any creative and production assignment. Rod was a partner of mine in Palmer Jarvis Advertising prior to selling our company to Omnicom becoming DDB Canada.

Rod was in charge of all of our creative product in our Winnipeg office as well as on the Palmer Jarvis Creative Board for all of our offices at that time in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.

He worked alongside with me in planning and developing strategies for some of Canada’s best and well known companies. He had always been very responsible and professional and that was reflected in the final creative product.

Rod also played an important role in the company, as he personally contributed greatly to the expansion and promotion of our company’s product and image.

He is very responsible and professional and I can highly recommend his services.

    Frank Palmer, Chairman & CEO
  • Rod has a passion for creative, always striving for that conceptually brilliant idea. A very talented writer, he places as much emphasis on sound designs as he does the visual image. Through our long association, we have produced a wide array of award winning TV commercials. Clients include Western Canada Lotteries, General Motors and most recently the Canadian Curling Association. Rod never loses sight of the end product and pushes the process to get there.
